Position Description
Job Title: Medical Caregiver
Reports to: Team Manager
Position Overview
Responsibilities for providing a safe and structured home environment for the residents. By virtue of education and or experience, the caregiver will perform duties listed to meet the objectives of this position.
Essential Responsibilities
1. Assist with personal hygiene procedures of the residents such as bathing, oral hygiene, toileting, special ointment on feet, back, bottom as needed, brushing of hair, clean eye glasses with glass cleaner or wet towel, clean hearing aids with alcohol pads.
2. Take vitals of resident such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, blood sugar, etc.
3. Communicate with physician and/or Power Of Attorney as directed.
4. Prepare meals as directed by the scheduled menu and facility manager.
5. Perform activities with the residents as scheduled.
6. Properly launder residents clothing, bedding and linens.
7. Ability to react in emergency situations while maintaining control of self and the residents.
8. Administer medications and document properly as directed.
9. Maintain the ability to follow simple instructions from the nurse or therapist.
10. Complete all necessary trainings for the position.
11. Cooperatively work in a positive, responsible manner with residents and others.
12. Have the understanding and empathy for the needs of the residents and others.
13. Ability to communicate a concern or complaint in a constructive and professional manner following protocol.
14. Seek assistance from manager when unsure of a situation.
15. Perform housekeeping as directed on the “shift duty list” and as needed.
16. Write orders into MAR as needed.
17. Maintain maintenance of resident equipment.
18. All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum age requirement is 18. Prior experience and training helpful. Must possess exceptional communication and problem solving skills and ability to work effectively with all levels of employees throughout Castle Home Care. Must be familiar with all Microsoft Office Programs. It is strongly preferred that first shift caregivers be a Certified Nursing Assistant (Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse is also acceptable).
